“The Wilmington City Council voted unanimously Wednesday against Chemours’ plans to expand production at its Fayetteville Works plant. On the same site, the company polluted the Cape Fear River for decades with PFAS chemicals.
Chemours recently applied to the state to expand production at the facility.
The company says it can prevent any pollution, but environmental advocates and local officials remain skeptical.
Andrews said her son, an Army veteran stationed in Iraq, was exposed to toxic burn pits and firefighting chemicals containing PFAS.” …
