PFAS Sites and Community Resources

PFAS Sites and Community Resources Map

As of December 2021, we’ve created an interactive map that brings together information about known and suspected PFAS contamination sites across the United States with resources for affected communities and information about state action. Read the full announcement here.

The PFAS research team at Northeastern University’s Social Science Environmental Health Institute (SSEHRI) is currently conducting a multi-year study on PFASs (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) as an emerging class of contaminants, while specifically investigating the social discovery surrounding episodes of contamination. As the project progresses and data is collected from contamination sites around the world, a Google document will be updated as new information becomes available and additional sites are discovered.

Thank you for your interest in the PFAS Contamination Site Tracker, compiled by the Social Science Environmental Health Research Institute (SSEHRI) at Northeastern University. The PFAS Contamination Site Tracker records qualitative and quantitative data from each known site of PFAS contamination, including timeline of discovery, sources, levels, health impacts, community response, and government response. The goal of this database is to compile information and support public understanding of the rapidly unfolding issue of PFAS contamination. All data presented in the chart were extracted from government websites, news articles, or publicly available documents, and are cited in the tracker. While we regularly update the Tracker and strive to include information that is as accurate as possible, some sites may be missing and/or contain information that is incorrect or outdated. The PFAS Contamination Site Tracker is not intended to be used for legal purposes.

We welcome your feedback and suggestions of new sites or edits to sites we already list. Please email us at pfasproject@gmail.com with any comments, questions, or information you wish to contribute.
