“MADISON (WKOW) — Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources are recognizing the state’s first PFAS Awareness Week.
The week runs through Sept. 25 and is being recognized alongside similar efforts in Michigan and Minnesota.
PFAS are a group of human-made chemicals used in products such as nonstick cookware, food wrappers, stain-resistant products and some firefighting foams. The chemicals can persist in the environment and water for a long time.
‘PFAS contamination impacts far too many folks and families across the state,’ Evers said. He said the awareness week recognizes efforts across Wisconsin to address the issue and protect clean water for future generations.”…
