“SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A plan on Gov. JB Pritzker’s desk could establish forever chemical sampling and reporting requirements for water control permits, sludges and biosolids.

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency says PFAS have become widespread in air, water, soil and consumer products.

This bill would require the state to only issue permits to water treatment facilities if they periodically sample for forever chemicals. 

‘This process is federally mandated by the Clean Water Act, but it’s administered by the state,’ said Rep. Laura Faver Dias (D-Grayslake). ‘This bill would fill informational gaps by codifying a testing procedure for PFAS levels in wastewater, giving Illinois important information about these PFAS chemicals.'”…
