“Governor Tony Evers signed two major pieces of legislation Monday that will release $125 million in previously stalled investments to combat PFAS contamination across Wisconsin.

The bipartisan bills, Assembly Bills 130 and 131, allocate $80 million toward a trust fund to support local communities affected by PFAS contamination and $35 million for expanded well compensation grants. The legislation represents the culmination of years of advocacy by Evers and months of negotiations with Republican lawmakers.

After signing the bills, Evers visited the town of Campbell, where residents have been forced to drink bottled water since 2021 due to PFAS contamination.

‘I’m glad for the people that put up with it in various parts of the state. French Island is a perfect example. It gives me great hope for the future,’ Evers said during his visit.”…
