“A new health study found that adults exposed to PFAS-contaminated drinking water in Michigan showed a weaker immune response after COVID-19 vaccination, adding to evidence that the chemicals can interfere with the body’s immune system.

Researchers analyzed blood samples from 74 people who had been fully vaccinated within one to six month before testing and found that higher blood levels of several PFAS compounds were associated with weaker immune response after vaccination.

The strongest association involved the individual compound PFHxS. In the study’s main analysis, participants with higher PFHxS exposure had about 40 percent lower levels of a key COVID-fighting antibody after vaccination than those in the lower exposure group.

Higher levels of PFOS, PFHpS and the combined total of nine measured PFAS also were linked to a weaker measured response.”…
