“The City Council will hear from a lawyer Monday May 12 on whether it should join a class action lawsuit against the companies that manufactured the forever chemicals knows as PFAS.
The Council was scheduled to talk with attorney Michal DiGiannantonio of SL Environmental Law Group on the matter at its May 5 meeting but the attorney recommended the talks be in private to discuss legal strategy. The topic was then postponed until May 12 at which time it will be held in a closed session.
Yarissa Ortiz-Vidal, the assistant director of Rockland’s wastewater treatment plant, told councilors that the facility has spent $250,000 more on sludge disposal since February 2023 than it had previously for the same period because of the cost of dealing with wastes contaminated with PFAS.” …
