“A late-breaking financing offer has prompted local officials to fast track plans for a second water treatment plant equipped to remove so-called ‘forever chemicals’ from the town’s drinking water supply.

The project would retrofit an existing treatment plant at Foxboro’s Oak Street well site to remove polyfluoroalkyl substances, more commonly known as PFAS, which can accumulate in the bodies of animals and people, causing health risks.

If approved by voters at the May 12 annual town meeting, the Oak Street facility upgrade would be financed with a state-backed, zero-percent $16.5 million loan repayable over 20 years.” …
