“FORT EDWARD — Residents of Fort Edward recently filled a town office building for a community forum, raising concerns about a new proposal to test the removal of ‘forever chemicals’ from soil at a local processing plant.
Enviri, an industrial waste management company, is seeking a permit from the state Department of Environmental Conservation to run a two-week test program at their facility in Fort Edward. If given the go-ahead from the DEC, company officials said they would remove and destroy polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, from about 5,000 tons of soil. Enviri has yet to announce where that soil would originate, and where it would go after treatment.”…
