“NEW MILFORD — Kimberly-Clark Corporation has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit alleging the manufacturer exposed their properties and the Housatonic River to chemicals.

‘As stated in our motion to dismiss the lawsuit, the plaintiffs’ claims are “not based on any test of any Kimberly-Clark product or emission from its operations, but rather on non-scientific and illogical circular reasoning,”’ a spokesperson from Kimberly-Clark said in a statement. ‘We have rigorous safety and quality requirements and adhere to all regulatory and legal requirements. As our motion to dismiss states, we believe the allegations made in this lawsuit are unfounded and contradictory on their face.’

Kimberly-Clark has a manufacturing facility at 58 Pickett District Road in New Milford as well as a 165-acre landfill site on Kent Road up the road from the facility, according to the lawsuit, filed earlier this year by New Milford residents. The facility, which sits on a nearly 60-acre parcel bordering the Housatonic River, has been producing paper goods like diapers and tissue products for Kleenex and other household brands since the 1950s, the lawsuit stated.”…
