“One hundred and twenty-five million dollars in funding to treat PFAS is still locked up at the Capitol. While both Democrats and Republicans agree there needs to be more support to address the contamination, after several months of disagreement on how to spend those earmarked funds, neither party can agree on who is causing the gridlock.
Ahead of Tuesday’s Joint Finance Committee, Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and state Democrats asked the Republican-led Joint Finance Committee for a special meeting to discuss releasing the PFAS funding.
‘It’s past time for Republicans to get out of the way and allow this funding to be put to use to keep our communities healthy and strong,’ Democratic Sen. Dianne Hesselbein said at a press conference.
PFAS was not on the agenda for the Joint Finance Committee, and no Republicans stayed after the meeting to discuss the funds. Republicans said PFAS is not on the docket after Evers vetoed the Republican bill to designate the PFAS funds.” …
