“Bridgeport’s wells have been left dormant for more than 4 years because of a forever chemical known as PFAS )(per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances).

Village officials have entered into a class action lawsuit, along with other public water systems across the country, for a settlement agreement.

‘It’s the type of contaminant that settles in the basin and continues to contaminate the water. You would think if you poured something in a drain it washes through. That doesn’t work this way,’ Village Solicitor Michael Shaheen said.

According to Shaheen, this is one of the largest class-action lawsuits in the history of the country, involving more than $13 billion of settlement among three corporations — Dupont, 3M, and Tyco Chemguard.” …
