Three weeks after announcing its plans to help control PFAS contamination near a Michigan military base, the Department of Defense says work will start at three other locations in Michigan this fiscal year.

The Department of Defense says 30 locations have been approved for ‘interim action’ while full more detailed plans are put together. That includes the former Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, which was approved for two more groundwater treatment systems last month.

It also includes the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County, Camp Grayling and Camp Grayling’s airfield.

William LaPlante, the DOD’s under secretary for acquisition and sustainment, said the efforts stem from last year’s guidance to renew the agency’s focus on PFAS contamination, starting with the communities at the highest risk of exposure.” …
