“The Washington Department of Health (DOH) is warning people to not eat certain fish from Lake Washington, Lake Meridian and Lake Sammamish after finding perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in the fish.
PFOS come from the same family of chemicals known as per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) sometimes called ‘forever chemicals.’ According to DOH, there is growing evidence that chemicals in the PFAS family, like PFOS, can harm human health.
PFAS can interfere with your immune system, increase your risk for cancer, and cause lower birth weight in babies.
Fish advisory signs at lakes will be updated by the start of the spring fishing season.” …
