“CLARENDON, Vt. (WCAX) Students at Clarendon Elementary School will continue drinking bottled water despite contradicting tests of PFAS contamination.

The school was shut down Friday over concerns about PFAS in the water supply. The building is next to the fire department where the firefighting chemicals containing PFAS are stored.

Last week a positive test for the toxic chemical came back in the school’s well water and officials canceled school as a precaution. A second test this week came back negative.

The fire chief says the state is expected to do another round of testing. In the meantime, students will continue to drink bottled water.

The idea to test the school’s water comes about a month after high levels of PFAS were found in and around the Southern Vermont Regional Airport.”
