“PORTSMOUTH – State Rep. Mindi Messmer has introduced legislation calling for all companies who sell bottled water in New Hampshire to have the water tested annually for potentially toxic chemicals and compounds — including PFASs.

If contaminants are found at levels above the laboratory detection limit during these annual checks, that information must ‘appear on the principal display panel per batch sampled following the statement of identity,’ according to Messmer’s bill.

Messmer, a Rye Democrat, said she introduced HB 1632 because she “wanted to educate the public about their water.”

‘Most times when we have an issue with a public water supply people turn to bottled water. Look what happened at Pease,’ said Messmer. ‘But you may not know what’s in your bottled water.’ ”
