Suspected contamination source: Firefighting foam used at Williams Air Force Base (WAFB) located in Mesa, Arizona (EPA, 2017)

The contamination is believed to have come from the former Williams Air Force Base (WAFB) located in Mesa, Arizona, one town East of Tempe. Aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) which contains PFASs that were used on the base and in training likely contaminated groundwater.
