The PFAS Project Lab

Studying Social, Scientific, and Political Factors of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances

KI Sawyer Air Force Base, Gwinn, MI

PFAS contamination at KI Sawyer AFB stems from a few suspected sources: two fire training areas, three plane crash sites, two land fills, two streams, and undeveloped areas where WWTP sludges were lan-applied.

Bottled water has been provided by the Air Force to a home with a contaminated well, and negotiations are nearing completion for installation of a whole-house treatment system to be operated by the USAF for the resident.
