Escanaba Defense Fuel Supply Point, on the Little Bay de Noc shoreline, used to supplied jet fuel to the former K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Gwinn via pipeline. Aqueous firefighting foam was used at Escanaba.
The DEQ first became aware of the site in April 2014. Soil and groundwater samples were collected in 2015, and seven residential wells were sampled between 2015 and 2016.
No drinking water exposures have been identified at this time.
