Chemours pushes to increase PFAS production at Fayetteville Works Plant

“The company tied to contaminating the Cape Fear River for decades is now pushing to increase production of PFAS compounds at its Bladen County plant. 

Chemours, the chemical company that’s faced heavy punishment for polluting the river—and Southeastern North Carolina’s drinking water—has submitted a revised permit application to increase production of vinyl ethers, which include PFAS compounds like PFA, at its Fayetteville Works Plant. PFA is a compound manufactured using GenX chemicals. 

Environmental advocates are concerned that increasing production could increase pollution and further impact drinking water quality downstream, but Chemours says that’s not the case. Forever chemicals have been linked to a variety of health issues, including different types of cancer.” …
