“VERNON — The state of Vermont has discovered a plume of so-called ‘forever chemicals’ at the Vermont Yankee nuclear power site, as part of its environmental cleanup of the plant.
Graham Bradley of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation told members of the Vermont Nuclear Decommissioning Citizens Advisory Panel Monday night that the levels of the PFAS chemicals was above safe drinking water standards.
He said the PFAS chemicals were located adjacent to the leachfields Vermont Yankee had at the nuclear power plant, which is in the final stages of decommissioning, which started in 2019. Yankee shut down in 2014.”…
