“ALPENA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — Results from a retesting of several drinking water wells near the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC) for PFAS have been released.
According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, 19 of the 71 drinking water wells tested were found to have PFAS, with no wells sampling above the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) criteria of 70 parts per trillion for PFOA and PFOS.
MDHHS officials said two of the 19 wells had results above the proposed state drinking water limits for PFAS.
The retesting of wells was offered to owners of 124 wells that were previously tested.
